26 kilometers east of Kitale is the Saiwa National Park one of the smallest National parks in Africa and a home of the rare aquatic Sitatunga antelope. This antelope likes swamps and wetlands. At Saiwa special observation platforms have been constructed to facilitate viewing this rare animal which is able to walk on floating vegetation and submerge when alarmed.
